In January 2018, Tom Liessens successfully completed the two-year professional training course organized by the Benelux Association for Trademark- and Design law (BMM) by passing the final exam. Once officially approved by the BMM commission, he will be able to call himself a BMM Certified Trademark Attorney. Tom joined De Clercq & Partners in 2015 as Legal Counsel and Benelux Trademark and Design Attorney. He provides clients with strategic and hands-on advice on the protection, maintenance and management of small and large trademark and design portfolios and he also assists in negotiations and drafting agreements relating to Intellectual Property.
Congratulations to Verónica Rojas de la Parra as well because she passed the much dreaded EQE examinations in 2017 and qualified as a European Patent Attorney. Verónica joined the firm in 2012 after working for four years as a Medicinal Chemist and IP manager at reMYND, a Flemish biotech company. She assists clients with drafting and prosecution of national, European and PCT applications as well as providing opinions regarding patentability, freedom-to-operate, infringement, and validity of IP rights. Verónica has extensive experience in various fields of technology including chemistry and life sciences.
Last but not least, Pieter Gregoir qualified as Belgian Patent Attorney after passing his exam in november 2017. He joined De Clercq & Partners in 2016 after gathering a few years of experience at another patent firm. Pieter provides clients with opinions regarding patentability, freedom-to-operate, infringement and validity of IP rights as well as drafting and prosecuting International and European applications. He specializes in various fields of chemistry such as biochemistry, chemical biology, polymer chemistry and industrial chemistry.
