“Patenting plant-related inventions after Pepper – an update from the European Patent Office”
During this session, Liesbet Paemen will discuss the evolving patentability landscape for plant-related inventions in Europe. The presentation will explore what remains patentable following recent legal developments, including isolated plant genes, genome-edited traits, technical breeding methods and downstream products. Recent European Patent Office case law, including the mutant barley and watermelon patent cases, will also be addressed.
