Mathijs van Noort obtained a Master’s degree in Mathematics at Ghent University in 2022. He proceeded his career with a PhD in Computer Science Engineering at Ghent University - IMEC. Under supervision of Prof. Femke Ongenae and Prof. Pieter Bonte he performed his research on formal theory on stream reasoning. During his PhD, Mathijs spent several months abroad at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford, UK.
After defending his PhD, Mathijs joined De Clercq & Partners as a Patent Adviser in September 2026.

- Advising for oppositions and third-party observations before the EPO
- Opinions regarding patentability, freedom-to-operate, infringement and validity of intellectual property rights
