About
De Clercq & Partners was originally founded as Ann De Clercq & Co, end 1998 by Dr. Ann De Clercq. In the early start, the firm focused on IP protection in the field of biotechnology and related life sciences. Historically the firm is therefore located in Sint-Martens-Latem (Ghent region) close to the Flemish Biotech Valley (Zwijnaarde, Ghent).
In 2000, a new company was founded and the name changed into De Clercq Brants & Partners cvba. In 2010 the firm changed its name to De Clercq & Partners cvba and two new partners Dr. Liesbet Paemen and Dr. Sakina Bounaga were appointed in the firm.
In 2000 the company also moved from its original location to the building it occupies until today in Sint-Martens-Latem (Belgium). The office is a completely refurnished former industrial building in Sint-Martens Latem, embedded in beautiful green surroundings, next to a residential area which is quite famous for its painters.
In 2008 the firm set up a second branch in Leuven (Belgium), a region where also many spin-off companies of Leuven University are located. The Leuven branch is headed by Dr. Liesbet Paemen.
Since the foundation in 1998, the firm has known a steady growth in employees, clients and turnover, and also the focus has broadened to all types of further industries.
In 2013 the firm expanded its services in trademarks, designs and domain names by fusing with IPRManager and appointing Joost Muylle as a new partner.
In 2017 Koen Vanhalst and Andrej Michalík were appointed partners at De Clercq & Partners.
2019 was a year of milestones as De Clercq & Partners not only celebrated its 20th anniversary, we also opened our third branch in Limburg, Belgium! You can now visit us at our brand new office at Corda Campus in Hasselt, which is headed by Andrej Michalík.
